Trial and Success

Image
Over time, we have all been taught to make improvements in our lives, following a simple phrase, " Trial and Error ". However, I suggest that we should all start using and adapting to a subtly different phrase - " Trial and Success". Welcome back to cast an eye over the new developments our students are making at the tinker studio. Amvi Dwivedi of grade eight is mindful of the busy schedule that the working mothers face, day in and out. Therefore, she is trying to make life easier, for those working mothers, having very young babies. She is prototyping a Roller Buggy- Baby Stroller and Scooter Hybrid, that will help moms to manage time for their babies and also have time for themselves. The Roller Buggy is a multi-functional baby carriage transformable into a scooter. Through a simple pull motion of the lower body, it extends the normal baby carriage into a scooter, making a more sportive and faster mode of transportation on various terra

From Concept To Creation

As the proverb goes, ‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step.’ So it is with our enthusiastic students, who  took their first step to commence the initial stage of prototyping at the tinker studio. It was a captivating sight to see them engaged in thinking and putting efforts, to turn their thoughts to reality. Jessica Jitu and Earl D'souza, currently  studying in grade nine are collaboratively working to create a pair of shoes, that can convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. After a lot of brainstorming and  research, they are now working on transforming their imagery of a concept, into physical existence. Jishnu Prasanth Pillai is trying to make a Morse Code Machine. In this video, we can see him sharing his views about his creation. Rajeshkumar Selvanayagam of grade seven is prototyping a candy vending machine for people of all ages, to get access to candies, wherever and whenever they want them. Be it a mall, theatre or a street

The first session with our twelve dynamic geniuses at the Tinkering Studio started on 10th October, 2018, with a lot of fervor and delight. Three quarter of an hour of research, planning and sketching helped them to set in motion. Trust me, the outcome of that thinking time was truly remarkable! Mahek of Grade 6, challenged herself with an innovative idea of making a ‘stationery vending machine’ to be installed  in every classroom, to solve the problem for those who forget to bring their stationery to school for that day. According to Mahek, children's work should not be affected for not getting their stationery supplies to school. They can use the vending machine to derive their supplies by simply inserting the appropriate amount and get their pens, pencils, sketch pens, erasers, etc for the day. Niharika of grade 5, wants to make a low cost, eco friendly water purifier. She desires to help people in the villages, to consume clean and safe drinking wa
