A Peek At Beaks- Little Fingers Create Magic Moments

   

 Everybody likes a good comeback story and this time we are back with a bang! 

 As truly said by Barack Obama, “ We remember, we rebuild and we come back stronger"

  We are glad to let you know how strong we have grown. Opening the gambit with the vision to excel has been the trend for us Mayoorites. Hence this time, we came up with a different initiative to create magic with paper circuits. Let me introduce you to yet another unique interesting enterprise taken by our students along with their zealous teachers.


               ‘A Peek At Beaks’ - Fun With Popsicle Flashlights - Grade 3

                                                              

Paper circuits is an activity with simple, easily sourceable materials that engages learners with basic circuitry.The main idea behind the  ‘Paper Circuits’ activity was to instill innovation and creativity among the students.

With an integrated approach in mind and a clear objective to execute a cross curricular activity, first, the students of grade three were encouraged to conduct research about different types of birds, their eating habits, habitat, their lifespan and then they were encouraged to discover and jot  the names of different birds in Arabic and Hindi. Math was used to calculate and compare  the lifespan in different birds. 

Later to take a step ahead into the world of innovation students were challenged to construct and design a circuit using LED, copper tapes and coin cell batteries.With "paper circuits," students learnt about circuits, design and built basic circuits on a piece of paper. Students assembled a circuit, learnt about open and closed circuits, and made an LED light up. This technique was finally used to light up the beaks of different birds and  create fun while learning.

  In the words of John Mc Donald, “ There must be a positive and negative in everything in the universe in order to complete a circuit or circle, without which there would be no activity, no motion” Electric things are so much part of our lives!  Gaining a current understanding of how electricity works and what it does is vital life learning.  Our emerging and investigative engineers of grade 6 were immensely engaged in learning the same, through a few interactive projects based on circuits. .  Our budding engineers  learnt the basics of building a series and parallel circuits.  By  the end of the activity they gained immense practical knowledge on LEDs, batteries, resistors, switches, board wiring,and spin circuits. The main activity  was to learn about  the difference between the two (series has one path for the electricity to flow, whereas parallel has two or more paths).Students also had to be able to use their analytical skills to determine if the light bulbs would glow or not. Jubilating Innovation Week

  The famous philosopher rightly quoted “ The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but building on the new.“ To foster this idea an Innovation week was organised in Mayoor Private School.   It kicked off from 16th January to 20th January 2023. to boost creativity, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing  advertising and entrepreneurship among the students. Students from kindergarten to grade 11 were given different activities to explore and execute. The activities included, jewellery making, photo frame making, bubble machine making, card board games, circuit games, games developed using coding on any platform, games developed using robotics, items like bookmarks, bags, cards, etc were made.
